LOS ANGELES, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- The historic Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens in Los Angeles County held a grand celebration on Saturday for the traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival.

The two-day celebration took place in and around The Huntington's Chinese Garden, known as Liu Fang Yuan, or the Garden of Flowing Fragrance. The garden is a magnificent 15-acre expanse filled with traditional pavilions and bridges, water features, spectacular stones, and trees that are frequently covered with flowers.

Spectacular lights were reflected in the lake and illuminated pavilions, courtyards, and pathways.

A trio of performance areas dotting the picturesque Chinese Garden featured traditional music and Shanghai jazz.

"We are celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival, which is one of the most important holidays on the Chinese calendar," Sianleong Adams, strategic initiatives director of The Huntington, told Xinhua.

The Huntington has one of the largest Chinese gardens in the world, she said. "Because of that, we bring in the community and we make everybody welcome and help people understand the beauty of Chinese culture and Chinese tradition in this very unique space."
