NEW DELHI, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Indian cricket team head coach Rahul Dravid has tested positive for COVID-19 with mild symptoms, the Board of Control for Cricket of India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah confirmed on Tuesday.
"Team India head coach Rahul Dravid has tested positive for COVID-19 in a routine test conducted ahead of the team's departure to the UAE for Asia Cup. Dravid is under supervision of the BCCI medical team and has mild symptoms. He will join the team once he returns with a negative COVID-19 report," said Shah.
The Indian team left for Dubai on Tuesday to participate in the Asia Cup, which features five countries, namely India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
The first match is to be played on Saturday, while the final match is slated for September 11. ■
