Myanmar's tourism ministry conducts basic Chinese-speaking course

YANGON, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's Ministry of Hotels and Tourism has conducted a basic Chinese-speaking course in the capital city of Nay Pyi Taw, the state-run Myanmar News Agency reported.

The Chinese-speaking course is aimed at providing better tourism services to the Chinese tourists. A total of 302 attendees including the staff from hotels and souvenir shops took part in the course.

The ministry has also conducted Chinese-speaking courses in Yangon and Mandalay to better understand the language, customs and traditions of China, according to the media.

According to official figures, the number of tourists visiting the Southeast Asian country gradually increased, after the country resumed the operations of international commercial flights in April.

The country attracted 42,315 foreign tourists between April and June, as China, India and Thailand were the biggest sources of tourist arrivals, the ministry's data showed.
