RIGA, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Producer prices in Latvia's industrial sector soared 30.2 percent in July 2022 compared to the same period a year ago, the national statistics office announced Friday.
Compared to July 2021, producer prices for domestically-sold goods skyrocketed 47.5 percent year on year, while producer prices for export goods increased 15.9 percent.
Producer prices of goods exported to other eurozone countries grew 18.2 percent, and producer prices of goods sold outside the eurozone rose 14 percent over the year.
According to the national statistics office, the annual rise in Latvian producer prices was driven by price hikes in the energy sector, as well as in production of wooden goods (excluding furniture), food, metal goods and nonmetallic mineral goods.
Compared to June 2022, producer prices in Latvia's industry climbed 2.3 percent in July as prices continued to rise in the energy sector, food production, manufacturing of chemicals and chemical products, as well as manufacturing of computers, electronic and optical products. Meanwhile, producer prices tended to drop in production of wooden goods. ■
