HAIKOU, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- South China's Hainan Province registered 4,816 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 5,277 asymptomatic ones between Aug. 1 and 15, local authorities said at a press briefing Tuesday.
In Hainan's coastal resort city of Sanya, most new infections were found among people under quarantine, said the provincial COVID-19 prevention and control headquarters.
The epidemic situation in some of Hainan's cities and counties, including Danzhou and Lingshui, is still in the development stage.
With the enhanced efforts of coordinating epidemic prevention and control and production activities, the economic operation showed a trend of recovery in Hainan, said Li Wenxiu, deputy director of the provincial health commission, at the press briefing. ■
