ISLAMABAD, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- At least one person was killed and 10 others injured after a building collapsed late Monday night in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi, rescue workers told media on Tuesday.
According to the reports, an under-construction four-story building collapsed in the Sarjani town area of the city, and resultantly 11 people were trapped beneath its debris and suffered injuries.
The police and rescue teams reached the site and started the rescue operation using equipment to remove the debris, local media reported.
All the trapped victims were recovered following the rescue operation and shifted to a hospital where a 27-year-old succumbed to his injuries during treatment, it added.
Most of the victims including the deceased were laborers constructing the ill-fated building, according to local media. ■
