SAO PAULO, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Giorgian de Arrascaeta and Gabriel Barbosa scored either side of halftime as Flamengo secured a 2-0 away victory over Corinthians in the first leg of their all-Brazilian Copa Libertadores quarterfinal on Tuesday.
Uruguay international De Arrascaeta opened the scoring with a right-footed effort into the top-right corner after Joao Gomes' assist.
Barbosa doubled the lead just after halftime when he combined with Rodinei before sending a low shot past goalkeeper Cassio.
Flamengo ceded possession for most of the second half but defended with conviction as they edged toward a place in the last four of South America's premier club competition.
The return leg will be played at Rio de Janeiro's Maracana stadium on August 9. ■
