SANAA, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Heavy rains in Yemen caused severe flooding in some areas, killing two people on Tuesday, according to the local health authority.
The two victims were swept away by floods in the valley of Mor in the northern part of the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah, said the local officials.
In the last three days, at least nine people have died as a result of floods and house collapses caused by seasonal rains in the cities such as Dhamar and Sanaa.
Residents are worried about epidemics spreading in the rainy season as the ongoing civil war has damaged the country's health system and disabled much of the infrastructure for clean water and sanitation. ■
