Grenada's Anderson Peters dominated the men's javelin to take back-to-back world title, while Canada and the United States won the men's and women's 4x100m respectively at the World Athletics Championships.
EUGENE, United States, July 23 (Xinhua) -- Grenada's Anderson Peters produced three over-90m throws en route to clinching his back-to-back javelin world title, while Olympic champion Pedro Pichardo of Portugal also took an overwhelming win in the men's triple jump event at the 2022 World Athletics Championships here on Saturday.
The 24-year-old Peters achieved 90.21 meters from his first attempt to take the leading position and went on to improve his mark to 90.46m in the second round. After sealing the gold medal as none of his 11 rivals managed to break the 90m barrier, Peters bowed out with a winning mark of 90.54m in the final round.
India's Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra took the silver thanks to his fourth round effort of 88.13m. Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic finished third with four centimeters in deficit.

In the men's triple jump event, Pichardo also built up an untouchable lead early in the competition. The 29-year-old achieved his winning mark of 17.95m in the opening round to secure his first gold medal in the World Championships after finishing second twice in 2013 and 2015 respectively.
World indoor record holder Hugues Fabrice Zango of Burkina Faso took the silver at 17.55m, followed by China's Olympic silver medalist Zhu Yaming at 17.31m.
Olympic champion Emmanuel Kipkurui Korir of Kenya rallied past Canada's Pan American Games champion Marco Arop to claim the men's 800m title in one minute and 43.71 seconds. Djamel Sedjati of Algeria also managed to catch Arop in front of the finish line, winning the silver in 1:44.14. The bronze medal went to Arop with a clocking of 1:44.28.

Gudaf Tsegay of Ethiopia emerged victorious from a breath-taking six-woman battle in the last lap to win the 5000m gold in 14:46.29. Beatrice Chebet of Kenya finished second in 14:46.75, while Tsegay's compatriot Dawit Seyaum took the bronze in 14:47.36.
It has been the second medal collected by the 25-year-old Tsegay in Oregon as she also won a silver medal in the women's 1500m event.
American sprinter Twanisha Terry held off a powerful surge from Jamaica's newly-crowned 200m champion Shericka Jackson in the home stretch to gift the hosts a 41.14-second victory in the women's 4x100m relay.

Jamaica finished second in 41.18s, ahead of the jubilant German quartet in 42.03s.
Canada took a stunning victory in the men's 4X100m relay in 37.48s. The highly-favored Team USA finished second in 37.55s while Britain settled for the third place in 37.83s.
