ACCRA, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Ghana U-20 captain Evelyn Badu was named the best female Inter-club Player as well as the Young Player of the Year in Africa at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) awarding ceremony held in Morocco on Friday.
The former Hasaacas Ladies striker who plays for Norwegian club Avaldsnes beat Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Andile Dlamini and South African defender Bambanani Mbane to win the Inter-club Player of the Year.
In the CAF Young Player of the Year category, Badu beat fellow countrywoman Doris Boaduwaa and Morocco's Yasmine Zouhir.
Badu expressed her delight via zoom for the honor.
"I am happy to be the recipient of this award," she said.
The Ghanaian is currently with the U-20 national team, the Black Princesses, in her home country preparing for the FIFA Women's U-20 World Cup in Costa Rica next month. ■
