MUMBAI, July 21 (Xinhua) -- India's premier technology educational institute will design and develop an artificial intelligence (AI) tool to assist film makers in developing the script of films, a statement by the country's ministry of education has said.

The AI tool termed Kurosawa, named after the celebrated Japanese film director Akira Kurosawa, is a ground-breaking attempt to empower the entertainment industry with cutting-edge technology to generate a full-fledged feature film script, the statement said late Wednesday.

The tool, developed by Mumbai-based Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), the country's premier institute, in partnership with private sector player Eros Investments, will help identify the right genre, output logline, and synopsis and deliver a potentially hit script that can be customized further as required.

"Kurosawa will be a huge opportunity to transform the art of storytelling with proficiency and improve efficiency for content creators," said Milind Atrey, dean of research and development IIT Bombay, which will also be jointly launching a white paper on Kurosawa that will be used for academic and research purposes, further supporting the upcoming generation looking to make a mark in the industry.

Kurosawa can also generate multiple engaging plots and scenes basis single input.
