SHANGHAI, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai Pudong International Airport has seen sustained growth in import and export cargoes since June, said local customs authorities Monday.
Meanwhile, cargo collection and distribution capacity has returned to normal since a local COVID-19 resurgence was contained.
In June, the airport handled 6,250 inbound and outbound cargo planes, increasing 145 percent over April and 40.7 percent over May, customs statistics show.
Meanwhile, the total value of imports and exports at the airport in June was 176.79 billion yuan (about 26 billion U.S. dollars), up 6.4 percent from the same period last year.
Since the latest round of the epidemic broke out in Shanghai this spring, customs at the Pudong airport have taken a slew of facilitating measures, such as opening green channels for specific goods, to improve its efficiency in customs clearance. ■
