BEIJING, July 11 (Xinhua) -- South Korea player Son Junho will probably miss the East Asian Cup tournament after he was injured in a Sunday's Chinese Super League game.
The Shandong Taishan midfielder fell to the ground clutching his right knee in the ninth minute of the game against Dalian Pro. Three minutes later, he was substituted.
"Son Junho injured his knee joint. The injury seems to be rather serious, " Shandong Taishan head coach Hao Wei said after his side's 3-1 win.
Son appeared at the Haikou airport in a wheelchair with his right knee bandaged on Monday.
He has been called up by the South Korean national team for the East Asian Cup tournament, which will be held in Japan from July 19 to 29.
The 30-year-old player reportedly will have a medical check on his injured knee in South Korea. ■
