PARIS, July 7 (Xinhua) -- Workers affiliated with two of France's major trade unions, the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) and Solidaires, will stage an "interprofessional" strike on Sept. 29 to demand higher wages, the two organizations said here on Thursday.
Citing the unions' joint press release, the French daily Le Figaro said the workers will demand an increase in wages and purchasing power and will protest against the government's pension reform plans.
Representatives of France's main trade unions are scheduled to meet next Monday to coordinate their push for more purchasing power, Le Figaro said.
On Wednesday, French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne presented her new government's policy priorities to deputies in the National Assembly and vowed to protect and increase the population's purchasing power. ■
