YAOUNDE, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Cameroon army said on Wednesday its troops have killed two militants of Boko Haram group in Cameroon's Far North region.
The army operation took place overnight into Wednesday in the locality of Toufou.
The army said, troops ambushed and killed the militants who were planning to raid the locality.
Images broadcast by local media on Wednesday showed damage caused during the operation in the locality.
Locals said, militants of the group had intensified attacks on civilians in the area.
More than 2,000 people have been killed since Boko Haram began raiding localities in Far North region in 2014, according to security reports. ■
