BEIJING, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Here are the latest Chinese sports headlines over the past week:

1. China wins bronze at FIBA 3X3 Basketball World Cup

The Chinese women's team took the bronze medal at the FIBA 3X3 Basketball World Cup with a convincing 21-11 win over Lithuania in the third-place final in Antwerp, Belgium. Earlier this week, China cruised past host Belgium in front of crowded local fans to advance to the semifinals.


2. China bags 10 golds from as many diving events so far at Budapest worlds

As of the 14th competition day of the 19th FINA World Championships, the Chinese divers have pocketed 10 golds from as many events after Ren Qian and Duan Yu won the mixed 10m synchronized. Wang Zongyuan led China's gold medal table with three golds (men's 3m synchronized, men's 3m springboard and men's 1m springboard).


3. China secures berth in women's VNL finals

China's women's volleyball team secured a place in the upcoming 2022 FIVB Volleyball Nations League (VNL) finals after beating the Dominican Republic 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-15). The Chinese team now sits at fifth place in the VNL standings by winning seven matches of the preliminary phase.


4. Chinese speed climbers dominate IFSC Climbing World Cup in Villars

The Chinese sport climbing team pocketed five out of six medals in the speed events at the IFSC Climbing World Cup stop in Villars, Switzerland. China's Long Jianguo, Wu Peng and Long Jinbao swept the men's event, while on women's part, Deng Lijuan and Niu Di finished one-two.


5. China to set up Basketball Hall of Fame

The founding of Chinese basketball's own Hall of Fame (HOF) has achieved phased results, as the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) has established a HOF Committee and put forward a relatively complete outline of the core content of the organization, work process and recommendation plan of the HOF.

The HOF Committee drew a meeting this week, determining that the first admission scale will consist of 25 HOF members and one collective selection.


6. Zhang Shuai's singles journey at Wimbledon snapped in third round

China's Zhang Shuai was defeated 7-6(3), 7-6(5) by France's Caroline Garcia in the women's singles third round of Wimbledon.

The top-ranked Chinese, however, will continue her campaign at this year's grass-court Grand Slam, to compete alongside with Elise Mertens in the women's doubles second round and the mixed doubles opening round with Nicolas Mahut on July 2.
