BERLIN, July 1 (Xinhua) -- For Stefan Ortega Moreno, joining Man City was an offer he couldn't refuse.
"The prospect to join a world-class squad and be part of the Premier League is overwhelmingly tempting. Too good to reject," the 29-year-old said.
Most of the Sky Blues' fans might not have heard about Moreno before, who made 67 first-tier games aside from 170 in the second division, mainly for Arminia Bielefeld.
And Manchester's number one goalkeeper, Ederson, might still sleep perfectly well after the club on Friday announced the deal as his position seems undisputed over the coming years.
Considering Moreno's perspective, things appear different. Part-time work and endless training sessions aside from a tiring daily routine come near paradise.
He is giving up his job as the starting goalkeeper at Arminia Bielefeld, a club constantly traveling between the first and the second league, far from national and international glory.
Moreno, son of a Spanish father and a German mother, is City's second officially announced transfer for the 2022-23 season after Erling Haaland.
Other than the former Dortmund striker, Moreno never made it into the exclusive circle of football's top stars. The transfer fee gap between both new arrivals might tell the story.
Over 60 million euros for Haaland compared to the goalkeeper from Bielefeld coming for free as his contract expires.
Union Berlin, Schalke 04 and Bayern Munich several times tried to sign Moreno. Things never crossed the finish line despite the keeper constantly ending up as one of the league's best.
Moreno called his move a "fantastic step and I can't wait for the kick-off of training as I am an ambitious footballer".
The German didn't speak about games but made clear he is prepared to take his chance as soon as he is needed. ■
