BEIJING, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.20 percent, at 3,267.20 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.43 percent lower at 12,246.55 points.
Turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at about 996.5 billion yuan (about 148.5 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.08 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks related to the medical and automobile sectors led the gains, while those related to metaverse and cloud games were among the biggest losers.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.58 percent to close at 2,677.29 points Wednesday. ■
