WASHINGTON, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Gabby Williams' 23 points lead the Seattle Storm to beat the New York Liberty 81-72 in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) on Sunday.
The Liberty trailed by only three points with 2:15 left, but the Storm scored six straight points in the final minute to seal the game.
Williams was the key player in the game, as her penetration and rebounding put the Liberty under a lot of strain. Williams contributed nine rebounds for the Storm, Breanna Stewart scored 18 points and Sue Bird added 11.
Chinese center Han Xu had six points and four rebounds for the Liberty in 19 minutes.
"My physical condition was not good today, but I tried my best to persevere. It's a pity that I missed some baskets. The season is still long, so just watch the video to find out the problem and keep working hard," Han Xu said.
Marine Johannes scored 23 points for the Liberty, while Sabrina Lonescu added 12 points and 10 assists. ■
