China bagged its first swimming medal in Budapest as Olympic 200m butterfly champion Zhang Yufei took bronze in the 100m fly.

BUDAPEST, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Zhang Yufei won the bronze medal in the women's 100m butterfly at the 19th FINA Swimming World Championships here on Sunday.

After regretting losing a medal in the women's 4x100m freestyle relay Saturday, Zhang finally took China's first swimming medal in Budapest.

Zhang finished the 100m in 56.41 seconds, barely after silver medalist Marie Wattel from France (56.14 seconds) and less than a second shy of winner American Torri Huske (55.64 seconds).

Zhang, the Olympic 200m butterfly champion and record holder, had qualified for the finals in 57.03.
