BEIJING, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Here are the latest Chinese sports headlines over the past week:

1. Zhang Weili secures brutal spinning backfist KO at UFC 275

Zhang Weili got back to winning ways after securing a brutal second-round knockout win against Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 275 on June 12.

Immediately after the fight, a satisfied Zhang called for a shot at the belt against Carla Esparza in Abu Dhabi.


2. China registers first win in 2022 Men's Volleyball Nations League

China secured its first victory of the men's 2022 FIVB Volleyball Nations League (VNL) on June 12 by overcoming hosts and defending champions Brazil 25-23, 31-29, 25-23, marking its first win in the competition since 2019.

Outside hitter Zhang Jingyin led the scoring with 25 points, including 22 kills, two aces and one block, while Zhang Guanhua contributed nine points and Li Yongzhen seven points.

China's opponents in the next cluster of matches -- from June 22 to 26 -- will be France, Germany, Argentina and Italy.


3. China wins three golds at badminton's Indonesia Masters

China's top-seeded duo Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong secured the mixed doubles title at the 2022 Indonesia Masters on June 12, after a crushing defeat of France's Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue.

Olympic champion Chen Yufei took gold in the women's singles after defeating Thailand's world No. 8 Ratchanok Intanon, while world No. 1 Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan beat the Indonesian duo of Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti to take gold in the women's doubles.


4. Hong Kong qualifies for AFC Asian Cup for first time since 1968

Teams qualified for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.

Hong Kong SAR qualified for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup despite a 4-0 defeat to India in its final qualifier on June 14.

This will be Hong Kong's fourth appearance at Asian football's biggest international tournament, having placed third in the first edition in 1956, and finished fourth and fifth in 1964 and 1968 respectively.


5. China dominates rings, uneven bars in Asian Championships

World champions Lan Xingyu and Wei Xiaoyuan dominated the rings and uneven bars to take gold medals at the Asian Gymnastics Championships on June 17.

Despite a deduction of 0.500 points for removing the mat before handing a request, Lan narrowly edged Iranian gymnast Mahdi Ahmad Kohani to claim gold with 14.500 points.

World champion Wei took gold on the uneven bars, while teammate Tang Xijing captured the silver. South Korea's Lee Yun-seo took the bronze medal.


6. China marks two wins and one defeat in 2022 women's Volleyball Nations League in week 2

China's national women's volleyball team beat Belgium in straight sets 25-19, 25-22, 25-14 on June 15 in Pool 4 of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Nations League (VNL) in the Philippines.

On June 17, China defeated Canada 25-16, 18-25, 25-12, 25-18, marking the second win for the 2016 Olympic champions in week 2 of the VNL.

On June 18, China lost to the United States 25-21, 25-23, 25-21, dropping to third place in the 16-team table in the preliminary phase with five wins and two losses.
