RIO DE JANEIRO, June 15 (Xinhua) -- Goals from defender Ayrton Lucas and striker Gabriel Barbosa gave Flamengo a 2-0 home win over Cuiaba in Brazil's Serie A championship on Wednesday.
Ayrton, who is on loan from Spartak Moscow, put the hosts ahead by rifling home a long-range effort in the sixth minute.
Barbosa doubled the lead when he coolly slotted home after a Giorgian de Arrascaeta through ball.
The result at the Maracana stadium lifted Flamengo to ninth with 15 points from 12 outings while Cuiaba dropped to 18th.
In other Brazilian Serie A fixtures on Wednesday, Fluminense drew 0-0 at America Mineiro, Athletico Paranaense drew 1-1 at home to Corinthians, Bragantino prevailed 4-2 at Coritba and Atletico Mineiro held Ceara to a goalless draw in Fortaleza. ■
