Former NBA and CBA star guard Stephon Marbury extended contract with Beijing Royal Fighters as head coach.
BEIJING, June 16 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) side Beijing Royal Fighters announced that Stephon Marbury would stay at the team as the head coach for the coming season.
As a former NBA and CBA star guard, Marbury started his coaching career in 2019. He led the Royal Fighters to the playoffs in the 2019-2020 season but failed to copy the achievement in the following two seasons.
Marbury is currently taking a vacation in the United States.
The Royal Fighters started the summer training camp earlier this week under the guidance of CBA legend player Zhang Jinsong. Zhang was an important addition to the club's coaching staff for the 2022-2023 season. ■
