ST. PETERSBURG, Russia, June 15 (Xinhua) -- The 25th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum opened on Wednesday in Russia's second-largest city.
Under the theme of New Opportunities in a New World, this year's forum is attended by representatives of more than 90 countries and regions, according to the forum's organizer.
The participants will discuss issues regarding the global and Russian economies, digitalization and information security.
While addressing the forum's plenary session on Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin will assess the current global situation and outline the future direction of Russia's economic development, Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said Wednesday.
Since 1997, the forum has become a leading global platform for the business community to discuss critical economic issues facing Russia, emerging markets and the world. ■
