JERUSALEM, June 15 (Xinhua) -- The 38th edition of the Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships started on Wednesday in Israel's coastal city of Tel Aviv.
It is the second time that Israel hosts the rhythmic Europeans, after the 2016 championship was held in the city of Holon, south of Tel Aviv.
The 2022 championship, organized by the European Gymnastics Union, is attended by 39 countries, represented by 286 gymnasts, of whom 91 are juniors, 83 senior individuals and 112 are senior groups gymnasts, for 19 groups.
Israel will miss its all-time greatest gymnast Linoy Ashram, the reigning all-around Olympic champion, who announced her retirement in early April, at the age of 23. ■
