NANJING, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Qingdao Hainiu defeated Nanjing City 2-0 on Tuesday for its first win of the season in the second round of the 2022 League One, China's second-tier football league.
The newly-promoted Qingdao met their old rivals, who used to prevent them from leveling up from the third-tier league two years ago.
In the 26th minute, Kingsley Onuegbu earned a penalty for Qingdao, and 35-year-old Jiang Ning shot his first goal of this season.
In the second half, assisted by Onuegbu, Xu Jiajun enlarged the advantage for Qingdao with a shot from outside the penalty area.
In the other game played on Monday, goals from Mladen Kovacevic, Sandro and Lyu Pin powered Guangxi Pingguo Haliao past Zibo Cuju 4-1. This is the first victory for a Guangxi team in the China League One in 28 years.
In other second round actions, Xinjiang Tianshan Leopard beat Heilongjiang Ice City 2-1, Suzhou Dongwu lost to Shijiazhuang Kungfu 2-1, Liaoning Shenyang Urban drew with Sichuan Jiuniu 1-1, Shaanxi Chang'an Athletic held Kunshan FC to a goalless draw, Nantong Zhiyun edged Qingdao Qingchundao 2-1, and Beijing BSU defeated Shanghai Jiading Huilong 2-1.
A game between Beijing IT and Jiangxi Beidamen was postponed. ■
