BEIJING, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Weather conditions are forecast to be "average to poor" during this year's flood season in China, according to the National Climate Center.
There will be regional floods and droughts from June to August, and the number of extreme weather events will be relatively large, the center said.
Severe flooding may hit the Haihe, Liaohe and Huaihe rivers, as well as the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River, given the expected high precipitation in these regions, the center said.
Temperatures in central and east China are expected to near or surpass the average levels recorded in previous years, it said, adding that typhoons this year will be generally weaker than usual. ■
