PHNOM PENH, June 2 (Xinhua) -- The Cambodian national football team defeated Timor-Leste 2-1 at home in an international friendly match here at the Morodok Techo National Stadium on Thursday night.
Live broadcast on the BTV news channel, the game attracted a crowd of more than 17,000 avid fans, mostly youth.
In the first half of the game, the Timor-Leste squad took the lead through forward Mouzinho Barreto De Lima in the 22nd minute, but the Cambodian team managed to equalize in the 39th minute after a goal from forward Keo Sokpheng.
Entering the second half, Cambodia team earned another goal after midfielder Choun Chanchav scored in the 84th minute.
The friendly match is part of the Cambodian team's preparation for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers final round, which will be played from June 8 to 14 in India, and Cambodia has been placed alongside Host India, Hong Kong of China and Afghanistan in Group D. ■
