BEIJING, June 1 (Xinhua) -- This year's June 1 marks the first International Children's Day after the launching of a "double reduction" policy last year in China.
The policy was aimed to ease academic stress for schoolchildren. It has reduced excessive homework and curbed the frequency of exams and after-school tutoring in core school subjects.
Since then, instead of being stuck with course books, children are more encouraged to go outdoors, have fun and spend more time to physical and mental wellbeing.
