BEIJING, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Li Zefeng, a former senior political advisor of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, has been punished and demoted for serious violations of the Communist Party of China (CPC) discipline and laws.
Li, formerly vice chairman of the regional committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, has been given penalties including a one-year probation within the Party, and removal from his current administrative post, the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission said in a statement Monday.
An investigation has found that Li, by accepting money against relevant rules, had violated the eight-point code on Party and government conduct. He was also found to have taken advantage of his posts to seek benefits for others and accepted money and gifts in return.
The statement said Li had seriously violated the Party's disciplines, committed duty-related wrongdoings, and showed no sign of restraint even after the 18th CPC National Congress.
However, he had been cooperative in the investigation, confessing to his wrongdoings and being cooperative in returning all his illegal gains, facts that had granted a lenient punishment.
Li's qualification as a delegate to the 19th CPC National Congress and as a delegate to Ningxia's local party congress was terminated, and his illegal gains should be confiscated, the statement said. ■
