BISHKEK, May 26 (Xinhua) -- The First Eurasian Economic Forum opened here on Thursday, with the participation of more than 2,500 representatives.
Opening the forum, Cabinet Chairman of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov noted that the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is capable of transforming into a major subject of the world economy and helping to eliminate those distortions and imbalances that have developed over the past decades in world economic relations.
Zhaparov stressed that the EAEU should become a model for an economic community flowing into a political union.
The forum, with the theme of "Eurasian Economic Integration in the Era of Global Changes. New Opportunities for Investments," is being held on the eve of the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
More than 2,500 people representing business circles and government bodies of the countries participating in the integration association have registered to participate in the economic forum.
During the forum, discussions will be held on the further development of transport and energy infrastructure, financial and banking policy, industrial cooperation, digital and youth agendas, e-commerce and new areas of cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Council.
More than 30 events will take place within the framework of the forum. The forum includes a plenary session with the participation of the heads of the EAEU states via videoconferencing, as well as 21 thematic sessions. ■
