RIO DE JANEIRO, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Uncapped Bragantino defender Leo Ortiz has been drafted into Brazil's squad for friendlies against South Korea and Japan, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) said on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old will join Eder Militao, Thiago Silva, Gabriel Magalhaes and Marquinhos as Brazil's central defensive options for the fixtures, which Tite will use to help prepare for the World Cup later this year.

"I'm immensely proud to be able to represent my country," Ortiz said. "I want to praise everybody at Bragantino. The club has provided me with all the necessary support to allow me to fulfill my dream of wearing the Brazil shirt."

The CBF said Ortiz was included to provide an alternative defensive option and not because of an injury.

Brazil will meet South Korea in Seoul on June 2 and Japan in Tokyo four days later.

The World Cup will be played in Qatar from November 21 to December 18. Five-time World Cup winners Brazil have been drawn in Group G alongside Serbia, Switzerland and Cameroon.
