JERUSALEM, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Israeli defense electronics company Elbit Systems will provide the U.S. Marine Corps with night vision systems, the company said in a statement on Monday.

The 49-million-U.S. dollar order will be executed in the U.S. state of Virginia through Elbit's subsidiary, and will be supplied through September 2023, the statement noted.

The order is part of a 249-million-dollar five-year contract from September 2019 for the supply of squad binocular night vision goggle (SBNVG) system, it added.

The SBNVG is a lightweight helmet-mounted system, featuring white phosphor image intensifier tubes, according to Elbit.

The system enhances warfighter performance and agility in various environments and conditions, it added.

Elbit Systems was founded in 1966 and is located in the northern Israeli city of Haifa. It operates in areas of aerospace, land and naval systems, command, control, communications and intelligence surveillance, and more.
