RIO DE JANEIRO, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Botafogo scored twice in the last five minutes to secure a 3-1 home victory over 10-man Fortaleza in Brazil's Serie A championship on Sunday.

The visitors went ahead in the 14th minute courtesy of a Moises Veiga strike but the tone of the match changed when Brayan Ceballos was shown a second yellow card for a bad foul in the 40th minute.

Botafogo equalized moments later through Erison Souza, who headed in after Victor Cuesta's cross.

The game looked to head for a stalemate before Patrick de Paula netted with a low free-kick in the 89th minute, sending the home fans into frenzied celebrations.

Fortaleza goalkeeper Marcelo Boeck then gifted the hosts a third goal by turning the ball into his own net in the 94th minute.

The result at Rio de Janeiro's Nilton Santos stadium leaves Botafogo fourth in the 20-team Serie A standings, two points behind leaders Corinthians.

In other matches on Sunday, Sao Paulo overcame Cuiaba 2-1 at home, hosts Coritiba won 1-0 against America Mineiro, Juventude won 2-1 at Avai and Goias prevailed 1-0 at home to Santos.
