DATONG, May 12 (Xinhua) -- An overhaul for the Datong-Qinhuangdao railway has been recently carried out on a daily basis to secure safe and smooth rail operations.
The 653km Datong-Qinhuangdao railway, which links the city of Datong in coal-rich Shanxi Province with the port city of Qinhuangdao of north China's Hebei Province, is an artery of China's coal transportation.
During the overhaul time, the railway stops its service three hours a day so that construction workers are able to alter damaged rails, clean rail beds and clear silt. The maintenance work will last for 20 days.
