TEHRAN, May 11 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) launched an artillery attack against the bases of terrorist groups in Erbil in Iraq's northern Kurdistan region early on Wednesday, Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency reported.
Citing an IRGC statement, it reported that the terrorists' bases and headquarters have been destroyed in the IRGC Ground Forces' attack.
No casualties and damages have been reported so far.
The IRGC Ground Forces said they launched the attack after a dispatch of Erbil-based terrorists was arrested in Iran's northwestern border city of Baneh based on previous intelligence operations.
The five arrested terrorists confessed to their "wicked intentions of perpetrating acts of sabotage" against Iran, according to the IRGC. ■
