JALALABAD, Afghanistan, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Four persons have been confirmed dead and four others injured as the roof of a mud house caved in Chaparhar district of the eastern Nangarhar province on Friday, the state-run news agency Bakhtar reported Saturday.
The incident took place following a heavy rain in Chaparhar district on Friday night, leaving four dead including a woman and three children, as well as four more children injured.
In war-torn Afghanistan, residential houses in the countryside are mostly muddy and often damaged during torrential rains.
Heavy rains and flooding have claimed the lives of about 30 persons and injured some 40 others across the country over the past week. ■
