NAIROBI, May 4 (Xinhua) -- Liu Yimenghan, a Chinese young man, is working to help children from the Mathare slums in Nairobi, the Kenyan capital, stay in school through a feeding program of Dream Building Service Association (DBSA), a non-governmental organization (NGO).
After visiting Mathare, the second-largest slum community in Kenya, Liu started volunteering by helping renovate schools and initiating the feeding program.
This program has led to doubled school attendance among the children. The school feeding program now covers more than 40 schools in six African countries of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Malawi and Nigeria. ■
