RIO DE JANEIRO, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Forward Luciano Neves converted a late penalty to hand Sao Paulo a 2-1 home victory over Santos in Brazil's Serie A championship on Monday.

Luciano coolly dispatched an 82nd-minute spot-kick after Rodrigo Fernandez was ruled to have handled the ball in the penalty area.

Argentine striker Jonathan Calleri continued his prolific scoring form by heading home in the 10th minute before Marcos Leonardo equalized for the visitors with a close-range finish on the stroke of halftime.

The result leaves Sao Paulo fifth in the 20-team standings with seven points from four games, two points behind leaders Corinthians.

Santos are sixth, equal on points with Sao Paulo but with an inferior number of goals scored.
