With the performance parade of the top 6 samba schools concluding at the Sambadrome, this year's Rio de Janeiro Carnival has come to an end.
12 samba schools compete for the top prize at the Sambadrome, a special venue built for the carnival in Rio de Janeiro.
Grande Rio, the last one entering the Sambadrome, finished runner-up four times and eventually it has clinched its first title.
The carnival was cancelled last year and this year's event had been postponed from its traditional date in February to April.
