CAIRO, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Muslims in the Middle East are celebrating the Eid al-Fitr, one of the most important festivals of the year.

Meaning "festival of breaking the fast," Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. The exact date to start Eid al-Fitr depends on a confirmed first sight of the new moon, which may vary from country to country.

During the holiday, Muslims across the Mideast region celebrate with communal prayers, wearing festive clothes, having big meals with families and friends, exchanging gifts, and supporting charity, among others.
