MOGADISHU, April 30 (Xinhua) -- Ten soldiers were killed and unknown others wounded in a roadside blast in the southern part of Somalia early Saturday, military officials said.
The Somali National Army (SNA) Radio reported that the incident happened when a convoy of military vehicles which were carrying the soldiers ran over an improvised explosive device which had been planted on the road between Balad and Jowhar districts by al-Shabab terrorists.
"The convoy of military vehicles led by Saney Abdulle (senior military) which were from Mogadishu was heading to Jowhar when the incident happened some minutes past midnight," the SNA radio reported.
Al-Qaida allied terror group, al-Shabab claimed responsibility for the latest attack in Somalia. Al-Shabab militants who have opposed the ongoing electoral process have staged a series of attacks, targeting delegates in bid to disrupt the exercise. ■
