GLOBALink | Pilot FTZ in Harbin boost digital economy under COVID-19 measures

HARBIN, April 26 (Xinhua) -- With strict COVID-19 measures still in place, the Harbin Area of China (Heilongjiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone has set its sights on economic transformation through digital industries. It has increased its efforts to collaborate with leading enterprises while also promoting industry integration in new materials, information and communication technologies, and software and hardware services. As a result, an optimal distribution of digital industries within the free trade zone has been achieved.

By the end of 2021, the Harbin Area of China (Heilongjiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone had 1,044 core enterprises which generated a total production value of 938 million U.S. dollars, accounting for 32 percent of the digital economy in the whole city of Harbin. R&D teams at these enterprises are leading players in computer science, automated control, language processing, as well as artificial intelligence.
