KAMPALA, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Hosts Uganda won the 2022 Rugby Africa Sevens after defeating Zimbabwe 28-0 in the final at Kyadondo Rugby Club here on Sunday.
Ian Munyani gave Uganda the lead with the first try, and Philip Wokorach made no mistake for the conversion for a 7-0 lead at halftime.
Uganda captain Michael Wokorach scored the team's second try, before Timothy Kisiga added two more to seal the win.
In addition to winning the African crown, Uganda also qualified for the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the Rugby Sevens World Cup in South Africa.
"The players gave 100 percent and we are happy to achieve all the set objectives," said Uganda coach Tobert Onyango. ■
