JAKARTA, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Three people were killed after a train hit a car in the Indonesian city of Surabaya in East Java province on Sunday night, local police said on Monday.
The city police said the accident occurred when the car carrying three people, all aged 19, was allegedly trespassing a railroad crossing with a bar gate and a signal in Kebonsari area, Surabaya.
Being fatally hit by the Sancaka train heading to Bandung from Surabaya on the railway track, the car reportedly bounced off about 100 meters, killing all the passengers.
The car has been evacuated immediately and all the victims have been sent to the local police hospital, while authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident. ■
