MOGADISHU, April 25 (Xinhua) -- At least three people, including a soldier, were killed and four others wounded on Monday morning in a roadside blast in Hodan, a district in the Somali capital, an army official said.
The explosion targeted the convoy of a senior army officer, Mohamed Hashi Guled, near Banadir junction, said a Somali National Army (SNA) official, who requested anonymity.
"Gen. Guled escaped unhurt, but three of his security guards were wounded in the attack," he said. "Investigation is underway to establish the motive behind it."
The attack caused major damage to business premises in the area.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but al-Shabab, which has been fighting the internationally-backed government, often stages such attacks in Mogadishu and elsewhere across the country. ■
