ABIDJAN, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Cote d'Ivoire's President Alassane Ouattara has reappointed Prime Minister Patrick Achi, who resigned at the same time as his government a week earlier, Xinhua learned from an official source on Tuesday.
According to the spokesperson of the Cote d'Ivoire's government, President Ouattara announced his decision to renew Patrick Achi in his speech on the state of the nation delivered Tuesday morning in Yamoussoukro.
Patrick Achi presented on April 13 in Abidjan his resignation and that of his government following the will of Alassane Ouattara to carry out a reorganization of the government team.
Alassane Ouattara had accepted his resignation and promised to appoint a new Prime Minister responsible for proposing a tightened government of 30 members against nearly 45 currently to take into account the current global economic situation.
After having held several positions in successive governments of Cote d'Ivoire since 2000, Patrick Achi was appointed Prime Minister on March 26, 2021 following the death of his predecessor Hamed Bakayoko. ■
