LONDON, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Defending champion Mark Selby won the opening match at the World Snooker Championship after beating qualifier Jamie Jones of Wales 10-7 in the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield on Saturday.
Selby, 38, took a break for six weeks ahead of the year-ending tournament and revealed that he still needs treatment for his mental health.
The four-time world champion made three centuries on Saturday and never fell behind during the match after leading 2-1.
The world number two is going to meet the winner between China's world number 16 Yan Bingtao and qualifier Chris Wakelin of England.
Chinese hopeful Zhao Xintong leads Jamie Clarke after the first session while six-time world champion Ronnie O'Sullivan came from 3-0 down to take a 6-3 lead against David Gilbert.
The 2022 World Championship will run until May 2nd. ■
