BEIRUT, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nasser Mohammad Al-Sabah said on Sunday that Kuwait appreciates Lebanon in its efforts to restore ties with the Gulf countries, the Lebanese Council of Ministers said in a statement.
The Kuwaiti minister made the remarks during a phone call with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati.
"Gulf countries are looking forward to the stability, security, and recovery" of Lebanon, said Al-Sabah.
For his part, Mikati thanked Kuwait for its continuous support for Lebanon and its efforts in restoring strong Gulf-Lebanese ties.
Saudi Arabia and Kuwait announced on Thursday the return of their ambassadors to Lebanon after Mikati pledged to take the necessary and required measures to enhance cooperation with members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
GCC member countries, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, recalled their ambassadors to Lebanon in October 2021 to protest against the comments made by former Lebanese Information Minister George Kordahi, who criticized the Saudi-led coalition's involvement in the civil war of Yemen. ■
