RAMALLAH, April 10 (Xinhua) -- A Palestinian woman was killed by Israeli soldiers on Sunday in the town of Husan near the West Bank city of Bethlehem, the health ministry and eyewitnesses said.
Ghada Sbateen, 47, was critically injured after she was shot by Israeli soldiers, and died later at Beit Jala Hospital because of bleeding from bleeding from a severe cut in her thigh's artery, the Palestinian health ministry said.
Palestinian eyewitnesses said Sbateen, a widow who has six children, fell on the ground after being shot by Israeli soldiers in the main street in Husan, and kept bleeding before she was taken to hospital.
Meanwhile, Israeli media outlets reported that Israeli soldiers opened fire at a Palestinian woman who ran toward them, trying to carry out a stabbing attack. No injuries were reported among the soldiers, according to the reports.
Palestinian social media users published a video clip of a woman wearing a scarf and a long black dress who was lying on the floor while bleeding and was surrounded by Israeli soldiers.
Tension between Israelis and Palestinians has been flaring over the past couple of weeks and during the Muslims' fasting month of Ramadan, mainly in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. ■
